Broadcasting

For the past decade, OSMi has been at the forefront of sports broadcasting and marketing in Sub Saharan Africa, with our particular focus on Nigeria. We have held the broadcast for some of the most prestigious events in sport and have established an expertise in broadcasting and marketing in the region.

 

Currently we distribute broadcast rights on Free-to-Air TV of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, the FA Premier League, La Liga, and the Bundesliga throughout the region. In Nigeria, we also distribute along with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) the FIFA Events including the FIFA World Cup 2010.

 

Our experience in distributing and exploiting sports content in the Sub-Saharan region on a free-to-air basis is second to none and we remain the preferred choice for many global and African rights distributors and agencies, sports federation and media owners alike in the distribution the sports content in Nigeria.

 

Sports Africa TV

Sports Africa TV (SATv), is a wholly owned subsidiary of Optima Sports Management International (Nig) Ltd. It is a direct-to-broadcasters, free-to-Air terrestrial service operated under a block airtime agreement with 26 regional terrestrial TV retransmission platforms in Nigeria. Apart from the national broadcaster NTA, it is Nigeria’s only other national TV Network, and the only national network with a programming focus on sports entertainment, and an audience reach of over 60 million people.

 

Mobile Telephone Broadcasting

Through another subsidiary, Cellcast Ltd, OSMi is leading the way in mobile phone sports broadcasting in the region. OSMi launched its service at the FIFA World Cup 2006 and is currently distributing the FA Premier League.

 

Programme Productions

OSMi has access to a number of experienced film producers. These producers have assisted in the in-house production of several supplementary programs for major events such as the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the Africa Nations’ Cup 2002 and 2004, and the FIFA World Cup 2006.

 

Satellite Services

Our SATv Broadcast Services platform is designed to distribute OSMI''S properties, but is also available for hire by any other party. The platform comprises of a digital earth station, master control room and studio with virtual set adequate for program packaging, production and delivery via satellite.

The facilities are namely:
A) DSNG -DVB-S being upgraded to DVB-S2; a 400W amplifier 3.8m antenna (circular/linear polarisation.) off-set focused. B) Master control room (MCR) Equipped for a four camera studio with server based player system with HD players as back-up. It is also equipped with three camera virtual reality set, scalar graphic equipment. C) The studio is equipped with state of the arts lighting system, with first class acoustics. Capabilities of the platform are as follows:

• Availability of C-Band satellite space capacity.
• Programmes production and syndication via satellite.
• Programmes packaging.
• Special events coverage and distribution via satellite.
